Through the release of the first ever full magazine issue as an NFT, iconic magazine TIME appear to be paving the way for the next era of print-come-digital media.  To provide the premise of the inaugural edition, the publication have aptly consulted Web3 pioneer and co-founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, who stars as the centrepiece of the issue’s cover story, ‘The Prince of Crypto Has Concerns’.

The digital magazine, which will be released on Wednesday March 23rd, is created in partnership with the LITDAO, a web3 cultural currency and NFT project that conceived the first fully decentralized book earlier this year. A decentralized protocol will allow the issue to reside on the blockchain, with an interactive NFT allowing holders to read the magazine in its entirety.

TIME will also airdrop the NFT issue to a selection of TIMEPiece and genesis LIT community wallet holders, which has been made possible through the services of crypto-payment platform Circle. As its title suggests, the issue’s cover story will be an exclusive and insightful exploration of Buterin’s ‘fight for the future’ of his revolutionary crypto-creation.

The announcement comes on the back of a busy year for TIME in the Web3 space, which to date, has generated more than $10 million in revenue, and has cultivated a passionate community of over 25,000 artists, collectors and enthusiasts. In doing so, over 5,000 holders of TIMEPiece NFTs, the genesis collection of the company, have connected their digital wallet to the official TIME website, which further grants them frictionless access to the platform’s functions.
