Australia’s biggest airline, Qantas, is gearing up for its first set of aviation-themed NFTs. Thereby, giving flyers a chance to own a piece of aeronautic history, while earning additional Qantas reward points at the same time.

Qantas’ non-fungible endeavour will see a set of provably unique, one-of-one aircraft-styled NFTs arrive on the blockchain in celebration of the magnificent flying machines that have graced its fleet throughout its illustrious 100-year history. Simultaneously, giving aeroplane enthusiasts a chance to engage with a brand-new kind of collectable.

Furthermore, Quantas will enable additional utility by allowing frequent flyer members to earn points through the programme, which are then redeemable for Qantas rewards such as flights, refreshments, merchandise and much more. Later however, the airline also promises further unique NFT holder benefits arriving sometime in the future.

To keep its ecological credentials in order, Qantas has pledged to launch its collection via a low carbon, proof-of-stake blockchain, while further offsetting any remaining emissions through a carbon buyback scheme to maintain a carbon neutral stance and negate any ecosystem concerns regarding the collection.
